EXCESSIVE BARKING

Some dogs are super sensitive to any noise outside the house. We will first reduce the

barking frequency and teach your dog to "Bark" and "Shhh" on cue to solve the

barking problem.

Reduce the frequency of barks:

Stop giving your dog food in bowls and give frozen stuffed chew toys. Your dog will

spend some time eating, and if they are busy with the toy, they will be lying down

quietly.

Teach "Bark" and "Shhh" on cue:

It is easier to teach your dog to be quiet when they are calm and focused. But teaching

Bark on cue is the first step to train your dog to be in silence, then the dog will bark

when you ask him to do it calmly.

Ask a friend to come to your house:

While he waits outside the front door, say "Bark", which is a cue to him to ring the bell. Praise your dog when they bark. After some barks, say "Shhh" and then hold a high-value treat in front of their nose. Your dog will stop barking as soon as they sniff the treat, then praise them and give the treat.

Repeat this procedure as often as your dog needs to learn to bark on the cue and be quiet when you ask.

Continue repeating the "Bark and Shhh" and increase the time of silence before

offering the treat. Start with 2 seconds, then 3, then 5, 10...

Remember to never shout with your dog and speak calmly and softly.
