1 - Reward the correct behavior. The walk is a big reward to your dog, be aware to not
reward bad behavior.
2 - Stop and ask your dog to sit before every step in the process of leaving for the
walk.
- Put on the leash
- Stop in front of the door
- Cross the door
- Go to the sidewalk
- Crossing the street
3 - Do not proceed if your dog is pulling on a leash, or is out of control. Wait until your
dog behaves correctly, sit and look to you, then say "good dog" and continue the walk.
4 - Stop frequently for quick sits and training routines.
5 - In the beginning, do some short walks instead of a long walk. Between them, put
your dog off the leash and repeat all the process of leaving for the walk.
